# Sites & teams

**Fleet → Sites** groups the fleet one level above device groups — by
location, team, or customer. A device is assigned to a site from its device
drawer; sites then scope rollups all over the app (network metrics by site,
billing per customer/site, the status board, the customer portal).

## What a site carries

- **Name + id** — the display name is used everywhere; the id is internal.
- **Members** — devices assigned from their drawers.
- **Site map position** — sites can be placed on the geographic NOC map on
  the Status board.
- **Portal contacts** — customer-portal contacts are linked to a site and
  only ever see that site's tickets.

## Role scoping

Custom roles can be restricted to specific sites — operators then see and
act on only their sites' devices. Super-admins always see every site.
